Chinese Traditional Holidays and Weddings – Close to my Heart KUNG KEI FAT CHOI! – Year of the Horse

Celebrations and civil ceremonies provide opportunities for storytelling.

A significant part of my youth spent growing up in South East Asia, with early adulthood commencing in Hong Kong means that I love Chinese New Year.

For me brings memories of Hong Kong and the wonderful holidays growing up there.

Undoubtedly the most important holiday for Chinese around the world – and those who have Chinese culture in their roots – this is a chance to shout out “Kung Kei Fat Choi” and give money in red and gold lucky packets.

I hope to share my appreciation of the traditions and custom of this celebration of the Luna Calendar for a few reasons.

Sheer sentimentality and nostalgia, plus the fact it is the Year of the Horse (my year) and the Year of the Tiger when it comes to love (my boyfriends).

Therefore love is very much in my heart.

Around the corner our local and more Australian celebration of Valentine’s Day awaits.

A special week to celebrate and say “I LOVE YOU!”.
